PAWTUCKET – Mayoral candidate Don Grebien announced today his “wholehearted” endorsement of Peter Kilmartin for Attorney General in the Nov. 2 general election.
As a native son of Pawtucket, we already know quite well what Peter stands for – protecting Rhode Island families,” Grebien said. “I have tremendous confidence that Peter will bring a high sense of integrity, along with his lifelong commitment to public service to the demanding task of serving as our top law enforcement official. Peter has my wholehearted endorsement and I look forward to working with him on issues of importance to Pawtucket.”"
Grebien, who won the Democratic primary by a nearly 2-1 margin and faces no opponents certified for the November ballot, noted he has known Kilmartin, a long-time state representative for the city and a retired Pawtucket police officer, for many years including during Grebien’s five-term tenure on the City Council.
“As fellow Democrats, we share many core values, including always putting the best interests of the public first,” said Grebien. “As a former police officer who has practiced law as an attorney for more than a decade, Peter will bring a proven track record of leadership to the office of Attorney General – and won’t back down from protecting Rhode Island families.”
Grebien continued: “I know Peter will diligently follow through on his pledges to crack down on financial scams, which often target our vulnerable elderly population. He has been at the forefront of laws aimed at increasing public accountability, rooting our ‘pay for play’ violations, and prosecuting crimes against our children. He also knows how to do more with less and save taxpayer dollars, which is critical during these difficult economic times.
“The neighborhoods of Pawtucket, as well as neighborhoods throughout Rhode Island, will be safer and more secure with Peter Kilmartin as our next Attorney General,” Grebien said.
“I am honored to receive Don’s support because he shares my lifelong commitment to achieving a better future for our hometown,” Kilmartin said in welcoming Grebien’s endorsement. “As Pawtucket’s next Mayor, I know that Don will do an outstanding job working to better protect our city. I look forward to working with him as Rhode Island’s next Attorney General and together we can move our state toward a safer and more secure future.” |
